Meet Alyson Chambers, M.A.
With over 25 years of experience teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade, I specialize in helping young learners build strong academic foundations across all subjects. I focus on nurturing confident students as they grow in reading, writing, math, and critical thinking. By understanding how children learn at each stage of development, I tailor my approach to meet every student’s unique needs—supporting their success both in school and beyond. I truly enjoy teaching and find it incredibly rewarding to watch students grow in both skill and confidence.

In-Person
I provide in-person tutoring throughout the Santa Cruz, Capitola, Soquel, Saratoga, and Los Gatos areas, with support in math, reading, and writing. My goal is to help each student build confidence and develop a love of learning that lasts.
Virtual/Online
I understand how busy schedules can be. Online tutoring sessions are available to conveniently fit your family’s needs.

Tutoring Services
I take a personalized, engaging approach to tutoring K–5 students in reading, writing, math, and critical thinking. Each session is tailored to your child’s needs, combining targeted skill-building with interactive activities that keep learning meaningful and enjoyable. My goal is to help students strengthen their academic skills while building confidence along the way.
Math
Mastery: Building Numerical Fluency
I support students build a strong foundation in math by developing number sense, problem-solving skills, and confidence with key concepts. Through step-by-step instruction and supportive practice, students strengthen their understanding and become more fluent and comfortable with math.
Reading
Development: Strong Reading Skills for Growing Readers
I guide students in becoming confident, capable readers through a focus on phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Lessons are designed to strengthen reading skills while helping students better understand and connect with what they read.
Writing
Skills: Building Confidence Through Clear,
Effective Writing
I facilitate the development of strong writing skills by focusing on organization, sentence structure, grammar, and idea development. My goal is to help students find their voice and build confidence in their writing.
